What will be expected of BBE participants?

BBE provides participants with the opportunity for significant business and personal growth. The degree to which participants invest their time and engage themselves in this program directly corresponds to the impact of the program on their businesses and personal lives. Participants will be expected to attend labs as consistently as possible and meet with small business coaches periodically throughout the program. Attendance at all retreats is necessary to capture the BBE expreience and full effect of the program.

Who teaches BBE?

BBE is taught by accomplished academic faculty; arts, dialogue, and experiential learning practitioners; small business coaches; and business consultants.

When are BBE sessions conducted?

BBE retreats, lab, sessions, and coaching and consulting meetings take place over approximately five months. Lab sessions are typically held every two weeks on a weekday afternoon. Three retreats are integrated throughout BBE at the beginning, midpoint, and conclusion of the program. Coaching and consulting sessions are individually scheduled periodically throughout the program.

Where are BBE sessions conducted?

Lab sessions will be held at the UTSA 1604 Campus. Two retreats will be held at an off-site meeting facility and the midpoint retreat will be held at the 1604 Campus. Coaching and consulting sessions will be held at a location mutually agreed upon by the participant and the coach or consultant.

Who supports the BBE?

BBE is sponsored by and facilitated through a collaboration of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of
Commerce, the UTSA College of Business Center for Professional Excellence, and the UTSA Institute for
Economic Development.

What is my investment in BBE?

Valued at $10,500, this program is being made available to you through the Institute for Economic Development at a reduced price:
          $3,000 fee for an individual for classroom sessions and retreats
          $3,500 fee for an individual plus up to two additional people to attend lab sessions only.

What are the criteria required to apply to the BBE Program?

  • Be an owner of a high percentage of a business and is an active principal in a local  business.
  • Be or has been in business by at least August 1, 2007
  • Be an owner of a high-growth potential firm.
  • Be in any line of business that will generate economic development for the San Antonio Area.
  • Be willing to share financial information that will remain confidential.

Only one company per industry will be admitted into the program, so please apply as early as possible.
